Company description
1957
Sonotape Corporation was a division of Westminster. This was a duplication company that also worked with other labels and produced Half Track (2 Track) Prerecorded Tapes in the 1950s and would transition to 1/4 Track in the 1960’s. They were located at 275 Seventh Avenue New York City. Westminster Records and their Sonotape division was purchased by ABC Records in 1961. Westminster tapes would continue to be manufactured by Ampex in the 1960’s

Many of the independents, as has been noted, have been assigning the rights for tape duplication of their catalogs to tape organizations such as Livingston. Westminster, to cite another important classical independent, has sold its rights to the Sonotape company.
Interesting to say that they have sold their rights but I guess it could be reworded to say – They are paying Westminster royalties and have the rights to distribute.
