Boosey & Hawkes Reel to Reel Tape Recorders

Company Description

Boosey & Company founded in the 1760s and Hawkes & Son founded in 1865, merged in 1930 to become a significant music publishing business. Both companies had been in music publishing and manufactured musical instruments as well. From 1930 the merged company continued in both arenas for many decades until 2003 when the instrument division was sold, leaving Boosey & Hawkes focusing solely on music publishing. Apparently they were making tape recorders in the 1950s but we don’t have much information about this except various models that exist. Perhaps another company was making these tape recorders?
