Griffin Reel to Reel Tape Recorders

Company Description

Griffin produced reel to reel tape recorders from 1960 to 1961 which were manufactured in Japan. These tape recorders targeted the consumer market. Griffin tape recorders used tube electronics. The company produced 4 track machines available in 110-120v voltages.

Apparently Griffin Boeki was a Company in Tokyo that branded Griffin tape recorders manufactured by Denon.

Perhaps this was as a result of a  US-based company similar to Freeman electronics asking for a customized build in the early 60s. Some promotional material indicates an office in Houston Texas. Japanese manufacturers at this time were very interested in opening up new markets

If anybody has any information beyond that which is posted on tapeheads by Dave In VA , that would be appreciated.
