Proton produced reel to reel tape recorders from 1958 to 1963 which were manufactured in Belgium. These tape recorders targeted the consumer market. The early models of Proton tape recorders used tube electronics and later on they transitioned to solid-state tape recorders. The company produced 2 track machines available in 220-240v & 110-120v voltages.

Proton was a tape recorder brand of  Siemens. According to the  labelling on the Type 8 tape recorder, these were made in Brussels Belgium.
