Description

The Aiwa TP-30R was a rim-driven battery portable recorder with a maximum spool size of 3 inches.
It had two small motors for record/playback and rewind and a four-transistor push-pull 100mW amplifier coupled to a 2¼ inch speaker. No erase head was supplied, one needed to use blank (pre-erased) tape.
Controls were extremely simple, the large knob at the front selected Play or Rewind, to the left of this was a small switch which selected Play or Record. The only other control was for volume.
There was an input for a crystal microphone (supplied) and an output for earphone.
Price when new (in the UK) was £14/14.
The TP-30A was replaced the following year by the TP32A.
