Akai GX-747 dbx reel to reel deck is considered the pinnacle of Akai's consumer engineering. It features a 3-motor direct-drive transport, accommodates large 10.5-inch reels, includes auto-reverse, and has some variants equipped with DBX noise reduction. Description

The GX-747dbx was the successor to the GX-747 with the addition of a dbx decode-encode system. Also, instead of the LED bar meters, the GX-747dbx
reverted back to more conventional VU meters. This could have been partly due to economy. The 747dbx was intended to replace rather than be a more
deluxe version of the 747 and both dbx and LED display may have pushed the price up too much.
The dbx type I NR widely expanded the dynamic range of the tape. Apart from this and the VU meters, the 747dbx was almost identical to the 747.
Recording input controls had a memory marker ring (like the GX-646) and remote control was available as an optional extra.
Like the GX-747, the GX-747dbx was available in either black or silver finish.
