All of this equipment belonged to my father, and he took excellent care of his equipment. He purchased this in 1960 or 61. Both the recorder and the microphone turn on satisfactorily, but have not been fully tested or refurbished. I want to sell all of these items as a bundle. "This is the four track version of the Magnecord 728, released in the late 50s. One of the more leading edge machines of its day and unfortunately represents one of the last really great machines that were made by Magnecord." 1. Magnecord Reel to Reel #748 2. Description

A pretty spectacular sounding machine that Anyone considering would best ignore the specifications for frequency response, ff etc. as it sounds way better than many very expensive Japanese machines. Really musical, really dynamic and very small for a 10 inch capacity machine. As you can see in the photos, I added an IEC socket for power and RCA’s for input-output.

Available in two track (728) and quarter-track stereo (748), both versions had the following features:
Monitoring: Phone jack on front panel for head phones.

Approximate dimensions 18 inches wide 14 inches tall 14 inches deep. Weight 50 pounds. rewind/fast-forward 1600 ft./m

Headphone jack, Early remote control option so the 728 can be started and stopped in any mode of operation.

These machines had an optional fourth head, switchable on front panel, for quarter track playback which unfortunately my model does not have. One of the last pictures shows the black faceplate that was an option.

Additional Info

Heads: Erase head. full track, half track, or split stereo at customer’s option. Record head and reproduce head. full track, half track or in-line stereo. (Additional heads were available for quarter
track or special applications.)
