Description

This was a three head, single motor tape deck, with decent sound,  good specs and accepted reels up to 7″ in diameter.
The TC 366 could be used in a vertical or horizontal position thanks to the sloped cabinet. It was first necessary, however, to remove a few screws, lift the deck out of its wooden sleeve and rotate it 180 degrees before horizontal operation was possible.
The deck had mixable AUX and MIC inputs which allowed a number of neat features.
First, in conjunction with another deck, you could record a stereo track, then, while feeding that stereo program into the AUX inputs of the 366, you could mix in another stereo recording via the MIC inputs.

Using a good tape at 7½ ips, this could be done 2 or 3 times before noticeable loss of sound quality became a problem.

Furthermore, by feeding the left line out into the right AUX in and the right line out into the left AUX in and flicking down the tape/source switch to ‘tape’ (while recording), one could achieve a very nice stereo tape echo, the intensity of which could be adjusted by turning up the AUX record levels. The tape speed governed the echo speed.
