One owner, inherited from father. Had it checked out and all is in great shape, except the "pinch rollers seem to locked up, keeping the record button from going off"- "appears to be a mechanical problem relatively easily fixed" $1-200. Heads in great shape, buttons & spools functioning. Cosmetically in wonderful shape.

Description

The final hurrah and top-of-the-line, performance wise of all the X series tape recorders from Teac. The M stands for mastering and with half track specifications like this the X-2000M was ready for business in the studio,  according to Teac. Some members report that for a variety of reasons the X 1000 series of tape recorders has proven to be the more reliable with the test of time. Others will report that the 2000s, with more durable heads, if well-maintained, are still the preference. Not many of these M’s sold back in the day as the choices for half track recorders for studio purposes would have included Tascam of course and many other solid contenders. This was merely a top-of-the-line consumer machine. A very similar machine was offered in the Tascam range, the Tascam 3030 If you had the choice, would you take the lower end of an upper-level product line or the higher end of a lower end product line? Always a worthwhile consideration.

If you own an X series Teac you may want to read the Service Considerations detail on capstan motor issues.
