Description

“A compact and versatile machine, tastefully and attractively encased, light in weight (30lbs) and priced in the medium low-priced field.” …So said the Staff test report in a February
1955 Magnetic Film & Tape Recording magazine.
The VM700 was the first of a very successful series of recorders which put V-M into the tape recorder business and the basic chassis was used right up to the model 722, which was discontinued in late 1963.
A standard half-track mono machine, the VM-700 had two tape speeds, 7½ and 3¾ ips, which were selected via a knurled button. The internal amplifier provided approximately 3 watts of audio at less than 3% distortion to a compensated pair of speakers (L-C combination) in series – a 5 x 7″ oval woofer and a 3½” tweeter.
