Description
Manufactured by Brenell Engineering Co. Ltd., 231/5 Liverpool Road, London, N.1. Tel: North 8271. Based on the 1959 Brenell Mark V deck, the series 2 was a two track mono, four speed (up to 15 ips) recorder with
frequency correction at all speeds, three motors (Papst capstan drive – 2 x reel AEI hysteresis synchronous motors). Wow and flutter was low, 0.05% at 15 ips, 0.1% at 7½ ips and 0.15% at 3¾ ips.
A four watt output drove an internal 9″ x 5″ elliptical speaker and maximum reel size was 8¼”.
(There was a Mk 510 model which could take 10½” reels).
The recorder had monitoring and superimpose facilities and a fast rewind time of 45 seconds for 1200ft tape.
