Description
The Mk 5 was the basic Brenell model upon which the later Mk5 series 2 and the Mk 5 type M were based.
Two track mono, four tape speeds up to 15 ips with frequency correction at all speeds, three motors (capstan drive – belt driven hysteresis synchronous).
Wow and flutter were low, 0.05% at 15 ips, 0.1% at 7½ ips and 0.15% at 3¾ ips. Output power was four watts and maximum
reel size was 8¼”. (There was a Mk 510 model which could take 10½” reels).
Space was provided for two extra heads for dual channel , stereo or monitoring.
