Description

Another gem from the extensive collection of Stuart Blacklock.  This would be one of the oldest British-made tape recorders, it’s certainly the oldest in Stuart’s collection. Made by British Universal E.M.E. Ltd, the Retalker was designed as an office-dictating recorder and had a minimum of controls.

A simple motor control lever used in conjunction with a play button on the microphone controlled transport function. Maximum reel size was 5″. There were two counters, the left one travelled backwards & forwards
with the tape and the right one forward only. The difference between the two indicated the position of the tape.
