Description

A development of the R62PA, the R53PA was in production from 1964 to 1967. Classed as a ‘professional’ recorder, it featured three heads and three motors.
It had two tape speeds (7½  & 15 ips or 15 & 30 ips) , took 7″ spools and came in half or full-track mono versions.
Output was5 watts with an elliptical speaker and five tubes were utilised including an EM84 magic ribbon record level indicator.
A simple remote control facility was provided on the front panel as was a socket for extension speaker
Constar heads were incorporated until 1966 and Bogen heads thereafter.
