Description

Styled in a very similar
manner as the earlier model 220, the 550 was also of a hybrid design,
utilising 2 x 2SB173A, 2 x 2SB175A and 2 x SB177A transistors, and 3 x
3OA5 tubes plus 2 x OA7O diodes and a KCO.8C Selenium Rectifier.
The 550 was a three speed, two head machine with built in stereo 5 watt
amplifiers and a pair of 6″ x 4″ speakers, one in the front
of the unit and the other in the detachable lid.
Pushbutton controls were provided for all transport functions, twin miniature
VU meters for record level and a three-digit tape location counter were
among other features.
