Description
The miniature PT-4K was a half-track mono capstan drive battery recorder with two speeds – 3¾ and 1 ips. (speed change was implemented by capstan sleeve removal). Reels of up to 3¼ inches could be used and the spindles had clips to hold them in place so that the recorder could be used in any position without them falling off. Power was provided by five 1.5V penlight batteries. A switch on the microphone allowed remote operation. The level meter indicated battery life on playback and record level whilst recording. This extremely attractive and well-made machine was supplied with an impressive array of accessories – black leather carrying case, microphone, telephone adaptor, earphone, recording lead, splicing tape, and instruction book.
The accompanying vintage test report (t) provides more detail on this equipment.
