Description
Made by EMI specifically to play the new HMV and Columbia ‘tape records’ , this was a semi-professional, cabinet mounted version of EMI’s TR50 studio recorder.
The Emicorder was a half-track mono machine with two heads, a single motor, 7″ reel capacity and single speed of 7½ ips. Only one input (for microphone) was provided.
An interesting feature of this recorder is the use of three brake pads: two for the spools and one to stop the motor from turning, possibly to make the machine more stable in transit?
