Description
I spotted this very unusual and unique recorder on Ebay.com. in late 2000. The seller
turned out to be a fellow-Australian living in Perth WA by the name of Lorenzo and he described the unit as follows.
“….Made in Japan by EmiPhone, this portable reel to reel tape-recorder may not meet “High-Fidelity” Specifications but it records and plays-back just fine. You can record on one side of the tape and then flip the reels over to record on the other. Mono of course for this vintage machine.
The mechanism operates with a crank-handle as did the gramophones of old. Apart from the hand-crank, the tape path is backwards compared to convention with the take-up spool on the left-hand-side
and the supply-reel on the right! Also uses an unusual knurled tape-spindle.
The pinch-roller rubber is in excellent condition.
