Description

These three recorders were three of several Thorn Group models to utilize Thorn’s new DB42 Mk II tape deck.
The 3208 & 3212 were identical except for their external finish, the 3208 came in a rugged portable case with handle while the 3212 was designed to blend in with home hi-fi equipment and was mounted in a wooden plinth.
Reels of up to 5¾ . inches could be accommodated and facilities included auto-stop, EM87 electron beam level indicator, cross-track recording and facility for stereo playback with an external amplifier.
A key feature of the Mk II deck was the use of solenoid switching via light-touch press tabs for transport functions. This permitted the use of a remote control which was available as an optional extra.
