Description

“When I first acquired this model it had the nasty habit of working for 20 minutes, then losing audio.
After cooling down for a while it would play for another 20 minutes.
I discovered that the amplifier utilized  old-fashioned capacitors sealed in wax (which had partly melted away from all the many years sitting next to the hot valves).
When the wax heated up, the capacitors changed value causing the amplifier to turn down the volume. therefore the amplifier could only play when the capacitors (and the wax) were cold.  After I replaced the old “waxworks” with some more modern types, everything worked fine.
