Description
Spanish reel to reel enthusiast Roberto Suárez
very kindly sent me the pictures and text for this page.
“…..The best-know products of the Spanish company INGRA (Industrias
de Grabación y Reproducción Acústica) were its tape recorders. This
Barcelona–based manufacturer began the production of tape recorders
in the early 50´s with magnetic wire recorders.
Without any doubt, INGRA was the national market leader with regards
to sales volume. It reached a peak in the first half of the1960´s when
machines such as the AM60 and the AM63 (pictured at left) first came
out.
Most of the machines made by INGRA were bulky and heavy and lacked
a technology as advanced as that of their contemporary European counterparts.
In spite of this, and thanks to their mechanical sturdiness, nice sound
and convenient price, they became the gateway to magnetic recording
for a large number of Spanish amateurs, many of whom still nostalgically
remember the now defunct brand.
