Description
A kit-form quarter-track “professional” stereo tape deck with three hyperbolic heads
and two speeds, 7½ and 3¾ ips. The transport unit came pre-assembled and the proud new owner could assemble the solid state modular circuits.
The deck had two separate motors, a precision capstan motor with flutter-filter belt drive and a separate take-up motor.
A single rotary knob controlled tape motion and six illuminated panels (green for play and red for record) indicated mono record/playback or stereo. Record level was indicated via twin VU meters and other features
included sound-on-sound and echo at the flip of a switch, flip-up head cover for easy editing and cleaning, a three-digit tape position counter, cue control, microphone and auxiliary input mixing, built-in stereo headphone preamplifier for monitoring. automatic end-of-reel shutoff and vertical or horizontal operation. There was also a built-in 1kHz bias test oscillator.
