Additional Details

Description

The RS-796 was a budget-priced auto-reverse (both in record and playback modes) three-speed stereo tape deck which met or exceeded all of the manufacturer’s specifications (see accompanying test report).
Controls were simple – at the top of the deck between the reels was the speed control (7½ , 3¾ and 1 ips). A panel at the right hand side of the deck contained a pair of VU meters below which were the left and right record level controls and a headphones socket.
Located along the bottom of the deck was (from left to right) a pause control, direction push-bars, function switch (play, stop and fast wind) and microphone inputs with record buttons directly above.
