Description
The RS-790US was a quarter-track stereo bi-directional dual-capstan tape recorder with built-in amplifiers and speakers.
Three speeds were offered and the maximum reel size was 7″.
Other features included a four-digit tape indicator, sound-on-sound recording, all transistor design, inbuilt 10 watts (music power) per channel solid state amplifiers, two 7 x 5″ internal speakers and twin VU meters.
In his 1969 test report (see (t) above), A. Tutchings admits that he was not very impressed with the overall record-play responses.
The recorder sold (new) in the UK for £183 15s and £235 4s with external speakers.
