Description

The miniature
Phonotrix 88-B was distributed in the USA by Matthew Stuart & Co. Available on its own or as a ‘Packaged Sound System’ (with telephone amplifier, speaker amplifier, P.A. facility and carry case), it had a reel capacity of just 2½ inches and a single speed of
1 ips. The one-piece cast zinc alloy
body provided strength and stability and a 4″ speaker gave a frequency response of 200 – 6,000 Hz.
Power supply was provided by three “C” cells, 110-volt a.c or a 6V car battery. Battery life
was 20 hours for the motor and up to 80 hours for the amplifer.
