Description

This was a typical example of the ‘toy’ family of Japanese tape recorders which flooded the market in the early 1960s. It had a rim drive (no capstan) resulting in a variable paying speed (which increased proportionately as the diameter of tape on the take up spool increased).
A 4-transistor amplifier gave a few 100 milliwatts output and two batteries supplied the electronics (9V) and motor (1.5V)
A permanent magnet was used instead of an erase head.
