Description

Sold by the Sears Roebuck Company, the Silvertone 6074 was a half-track mono, single motor domestic recorder with two tape speeds of 7½  and 3¾ ips.

The recorder employed a simple control layout, from left to right the four black knobs operated 1) On / Off / Volume. 2) Idle / Record / Play. 3) Neutral / Rewind / Fast forward and 4) Tone. A VU meter indicated record level and an up/down switch selected the tape speed.
Two inputs (mic & radio were provided on the left hand side of the control panel and on the right were external amplifier and external speaker outputs.
