Description
This two speed (15 & 7½ ips), three head tape deck with a 10½ reel capability and a 3-motor, closed loop dual capstan tape drive was the successor to the model TC 755 (which had tape speeds of 3¾ and 7½ ips).
The TC 756 was a four-track stereo, the 756-2 a two-track stereo.
Feature-wise this deck was the same as the TC 755
Sony advertised that the 756 offered Symphase recording to record FM matrix or SQ quadraphonic 4 channel sources for playback through a decoder equipped with a 4 channel amplifier.
I was into quadraphonic back in the day and nothing available in Canada would take advantage of this groundbreaking feature.
