Description

The Stella ST 470 was a clone of the Philips EL 3585. It was an all-transistor, battery-powered recorder with a single speed of 1 ips and a 4″ spool capacity. Recording sense was half-track mono, giving up to 2 hour’s playing time on long-play tape. A transparent lid protected the tape while still leaving the controls accessible. (Reel size was reduced to 3″ with lid closed).
Price when new (in the UK) was £26 5s which included a moving coil microphone, empty spool, reel of tape and radio lead.
