Description

The Tape-Athon 702 was an all-solid state auto-reversing tape deck with a high-quality low maintenance tape transport.
It was designed primarily for background music reproduction for retail stores, professional offices, motel/recreational centres, churches, schools and even mortuaries (according to the sales brochure).
Built on a heavy metal alloy cast chassis, the tape mechanism was designed for long service-free operation. Reversing switches were dust-proofed, clutches were of the centrifugal-pawl type without any springs and the motor was a heavy duty capacitor-type, 8-pole, 3-wire reversible with pre-lubricated bronze ball bearings.
