Description
For a period of time in the early 60s, Teac was building the Concertone series 90 tape recorders for US based Berlant.
These were designed to compete with the number one broadcast machine of its time the Ampex 351.
The R-310 series has a lot of similarities to the Concertone.
Described as the Teac R-310 professional series, they offered the configurations listed below on this 3 or 4 head, separate preamplifier tape recorder. Interesting that the AR-12C preamplifiers were using vacuum tube electronics in 1967 and make note of the rather high pricing.
R-311 full track mono – TD-321A Transport – 3 Heads – 1x AR-12C preamplifier $1275
R-312 2 track mono – TD-321B Transport – 3 Heads – AR-12C preamplifier $1275
R-313 2 track stereo, 4 track PB – TD-321C Transport – 4 Heads – 2x AR-12C preamplifiers $1575
R-314 4 track stereo – 2 track PB TD-321 D Transport – 4 Heads – 2x AR-12C preamplifiers$1575
This machine could be ordered with NAB or CCIR (IEC) equalization.
From product documentation- Dual speed capstan motor provides 2 basic speeds 15 and 7.5 IPS by electrical change of motor winding. Then, with exchanged capstan sleeve and pinch roller , was 7.5 and 3.75 IPS are available.
