Developed from the half-track model 75-15, the Magnetophon 76 was a two-speed, quarter-track mono machine.
All tape functions were push-button controlled and track selection was facilitated by the green and red buttons seen on top of the head cover in the picture at left.
Two models were available, the 76T (Table model) with an output stage only, and the 76 K (pictured at left) with a 2½ watt power stage and a 6″ x 3″ loudspeaker.
Both models utilised a low-noise solid state preamplifier, with tubes in the outputs stages and for the magic eye level indicator. The playing time for a 5¾” spool of double play tape was 12 hours 40 minutes.
