Description
Telefunken continued with the award winning design of the M65 series throughout the 75, 75/15 and 76 series recorders.
With the new Magnetophon 77 stereo they maintained
this styling, thus managing to keep the costs down. Underneath the “hood” however, things were changing. Two complete, separate record/playback amplifiers were incorporated, and for reasons of both space and heating, the input stage was solid state. Each channel employed 2 OC 63 transistors, a twin triode and an output tube. Special shielding, DC tube heating and mu-metal head surrounds reduced hum & noise and a mu-metal flap swung against the head during record or playback to complete the shielding.
