Description

The Editor was one of the earliest British ‘portable’ tape recorders and was produced by TRE (Tape recorder Electronics Ltd) of Fitzroy St, London. It was distributed by MOS, the Mail Order Supply Company who also distributed ‘Playtime’ recorders.
Introduced in January 1954, the half-track mono Editor weighed 33 lbs, measured 6¼ x 12 x 7 inches and was priced at £47 5s.
Three identical Collaro shaded-pole motors were used. one each for spooling and one for capstan drive (7½ ips).
