Description

Based on the Magnavox Studiomatic tape deck, the series 40 was a fully transistorized half-track (42) or quarter-track (44) recorder with a 7″ reel capacity. Three speeds were provided (7½, 3¾ & 1 7/8 ips) and features included input mixing , a built-in microphone transformer, VU meter, a large 8″ x 5″ forward-facing speaker and 3 watts of audio output.
All this for the rather low price of £46.
