Description

The latest incarnation of the Uher Report 4000, which stopped production in 1992.  Mono half track, maximum 5″ reels, 3 heads, 4 tape speeds (15/16, 1 7/8, 3 3/4, and 7 1/2 ips).  2 levels of automatic level control, or manual setting.  Built in speaker.

Very popular with the BBC in the 1980s, and standard issue to BBC News reporters before they were replaced with Sony Walkman pro cassette recorders.

DIN connectors for everything, apart from a 1/4″ headphone jack on the side. A bewildering array of accessories were offered including telephone adaptors to the Akustomat auto-start/stop, which operates the machine when it detects a sound.

Operates on either 5x D cell batteries or with power supply Z124 A-1 which can either fit inside the machine or plug into the power socket from the outside.
