Description

Like the 303 De-Luxe, this recorder utilized the robust Walter 2 speed (3¾ and 7½ IPS) Mk II tape deck. The 404 had increased performance in the way of a four-stage amplifier of 4 watts driving an 8″ x 5″ Elac speaker and a 4″ Elac tweeter via a passive cross-over.

In its time, this would have been worthy of its advertised “Hi-Fi” label. The machine was priced at about £60 Sterling in 1958.
