Description
Firstly, apologies for the
picture quality – the source was an old, yellowing, 1961 McGee
Radio catalogue (McGee Radio Company, Kansas City,
Missouri)
This was the Recordio “Pro” – top of the line
for 1961.
Stereo ¼ or ½ track with push-button controls sporting two complete
self-contained amplifiers and two 5′ x 7′ speakers giving a total
of 6 watts output.
Maximum reel size was 7″ and tape speeds were 3¾ & 7½
ips. The front plate was of sturdy, die-cast aluminium and the
entire unit weighed 37 lbs.
Controls included dual volume and tone and the semi-circular scale above
the head cover was a novel tape position indicator.
