Description
Proudly advertised by Lafayette in their 1966 catalog as ‘our finest stereo tape deck’, the RK-650 was a quarter-track two-speed stereo deck.
Features included included 7″ reel capacity, push-button transport controls, auto cut-off switch, record level meters, 4-pole capacitor-start motor, hybrid electronics (tubes and transistors), sound-on-sound and sound-with-sound recording and pause control.
Frequency response at the higher speed was 40-12,000Hz while wow & flutter was 0.2%.
Price when new was $109.95.
Lafayette used the RK-650 deck in their RK-675 and Criterion 1000B tape recorders
