Description

Like many small British manufacturers in the late 1950s, Wyndsor built their recorders around
an existing transport mechanism . The first Wyndsor model, the Regent, was built around the three-motor Lane Mk VII unit.
The recorder was a half- track mono machine with a 7″ reel capacity and two tape speeds: 7½ & 3¾ ips.
The amplifier controls were in a panel at the front and protected by small sliding doors. (The amplifier was apparently manufactured under sub-contract by Sydney Larholt and Harvey Lubin of EAP/Elizabethan fame). 3½-watts of output drove a 10″ x 6″ elliptical speaker in
the detachable lid and the Regent could be used solely as an amplifier. Input mixing (microphone & radio) was possible.
The recorder came complete with an Acos MIC 39-1 microphone and a reel of tape.
Price when new was £56 14s.
