Description
An interesting early member of the Akai family. It’s a single motor, all-tube tube design, (6AU6, 6BQ5, 6AR5, 6X4 and 12AD7. with two speeds 3¾ and 7½ ips. Speed change was made by changing the drive capstan. The tube line-up was very similar to the M-6 of 1962 so I’m guessing that this machine was of a similar vintage and specification. The recorder had a built-in mono playback amplifier and a single elliptical speaker to monitor recordings. RCA type (left and right) connections and outputs were provided.
