Description
Designed for use in the broadcasting, television and recording industries, the 100 series console was an extremely well-built machine with very high specifications with reels of up to 14″ being accommodated..
Normally supplied as a full-track, it was also available in other track configurations, half track mono or stereo.
The control system was electrically interlocked allowing rapid changes between various transport operations. Separate frequencies were supplied for record bias and erase and the replay amplifier, which was mounted on tiltable slides, was available in either 3 watt or 10 watt versions.
Remote control functionality was available as an optional extra as were microphone input modules.
Not much else is known about this rather impressive machine except that it was made in fairly low numbers, some estimates are that only a dozen or so were ever made for the Australian and New Zealand markets. When Byer was taken over by Rola, the 100 series continued in production with a Rola badge, but otherwise unchanged.
