Description
The Electronic Instrument
Company (EICO) in Flushing, NY. started out in around 1945, manufacturing
test equipment , but they also offered many audio kits and pre-wired units
as well.
The RP-100 was a quarter-track stereo tape deck which could also play
back half-track stereo tapes. It had three separate heads, speeds of 7½
& 3¾ ips, took 7″ reels and separate solid state record
and playback electronics, enabling off-tape monitoring whilst recording.
Other features included solenoid-operated tape lifters, electrical push-button
controls, DC electro-dynamic braking, sound on sound, dual VU meters,and
automatic end-of-tape stop.
