Description
This was one of Philips’ most popular machines, produced for several years with minor modifications and variations throughout the early sixties. I found this particular example in the back yard of a second hand shop,
someone had thrown it away. The owner said – “take it!” A few years later I happened to chance upon an original owners manual at a street market in Balmain, Sydney. The EL 3541 was a quarter-track mono machine, could handle reels up to 7″ and played at the single speed of 3¾ ips. With an external amplifier and speaker, stereo playback was possible.
