Description

The 1055 was a single motor,
two speed (7½ and 3¾ ips) quarter-track stereo recorder with
auto shut-off and two internal speakers. Speed change was affected by
the removal/addition of a capstan sleeve. An additional larger (optional
extra) capstan sleeve, combined with a matching smaller pinch roller enabled
the high speed of 15 ips.
The 1055 featured all-valve circuitry, was FM multiplex ready and could
be operated either in a vertical or horizontal position.
A single VU meter was switchable to indicate either left or right record
level.
