Description
The half-track mono Magnetophon 85 was the ‘grown-up’ version of the Magnetophon 75, having speeds of 7½ and 3¾ ips and a 7″ reel capacity. Noise, hum and hiss were kept to a minimum by using D.C. heaters for the preamplifier section, double-screening of the motor and a special Philberth transformer with a very low stray field.
Features included straight-through amplifier function, bass and treble controls, output from preamp stage, superimpose function, foil-operated auto-stop, provision for remote control operation and a double-screened motor.
