Description
The A 1340 was a budget 4-channel tape deck incorporating 2/4 channel recording and playback.
A dual speed, reversible hysteresis synchronous motor provided a stable tape travel in all modes of operation. Unlike Teac’s other 4-channel decks which had servo-controlled push-button transport controls, this model had a simple, single lever control system (similar to Sony decks).
One unusual (and thoughtful) feature was an adjustable rewind speed to protect thinner extended play tapes. A servo-tension loop ensured tape tension was kept to an optimum value despite changing reel diameters. Features included two speed operation (7½ and 3¾ ips), 7″ reel capacity, three heads and mixable inputs.
