Teac Reel to Reel Tape Recorders

Company Description

Teac produced reel to reel tape recorders from 1963 to 1996 which were manufactured in Japan. These tape recorders targeted the studio, consumer and semi-pro market. The early models of Teac tape recorders used tube electronics and later on they transitioned to solid-state tape recorders. The company produced both 2 and 4 track machines available in 110-120v, 100v Japan, 220-240v & Multi voltages.

There seems to be a fair bit of duplication on the Teac history story and it seemed best at this point to put forth a variety of links to some of the better efforts to capture the interesting story. Perhaps we will build out a more definitive history, when more unique information becomes available.
