Description

Should this be a Teac or a Tascam? The question was being asked at the time and for the Japanese market it became a Teac. For North America, a Teac Tascam Series  35-2 with only NAB EQ.  It seems rather odd in retrospect that the A-6700, a semi-pro model with separate transport and preamplifier would be part of the consumer line but it’s also good for mobile recording. The Teac A-6700DX, appears to be the same machine with a different front panel colour configuration, perhaps more suited for studios or other professional applications.
This machine has great great speed stability and would be a good complement for those who use external tape head preamplifiers as it has an output for the playback head on the transport and has IEC equalization for recording purposes. Considering this was a top-of-the-line machine, it’s interesting to note that Teac had three very similar machines that were available at the same time while other companies found that one was quite adequate.
