RCA Victor - USA

Company description

RCA Victor Produced and Duplicated more Half Track (2 Track) Prerecorded Tapes in the 1950s than any other company and continued into the 60s and 70s with quarter track and a Very Extensive catalogue.

RCA’s 1950’s production started by using RT-21 quarter-inch tape recorders running at 30 IPS, wired to mono mixers with Neumann U-47 cardioid and M-49/50 omnidirectional microphones.

A few years later, they switched to an Ampex 300–3 one-half inch machine running at 15 IPS and later increased it to 30 inches per second.
